Ford Vans. Econoline is Ford’s long-lived entry in the panel and passenger van wars. Is available in four different series and in four different guises: van, club wagon, super van, and super wagon, the last two simply extended versions. All of Ford’s vans feature body-on-frame construction. The Econoline Van and Club Wagon are available in two different wheelbases: 124 inches and 138 inches. The shorter wheelbase is offered only in the E-100 and E-150 series; the longer wheelbase is offered on every model. In addition to their base drivetrains, the E-100 and E-150 have a four-speed automatic overdrive transmission available with the engine 5.0-liter V8; an optional 5.8-liter V8 is matched to a three-speed automatic. E-250 vans and wagons under 8,500 pounds GVWR have the four-speed automatic overdrive available with 5.0-liter V8; as with the E-100 and E-150, the 5.8-liter V8 is available only with a three-speed automatic. In addition, both the E-250 over 8,500 pounds GVWR and the E-350 have a 5.8-liter V8, a 7.5-liter V8. Each is teamed with the three-speed automatic. Front suspension on all Econoline models is twin I-beam independent with coil springs; rear suspensions feature solid axles with leaf springs.
